What We're Targeting This Term

Math first. Reading is already advanced; math is where focused practice moves the needle most โ€” and where Maya is projected just below proficient. These are the Grade 2 skills we're drilling:

Fact fluency (timed, for automaticity)
Place value to hundreds
Two-digit add & subtract
Making ten & number bonds
Counting money
Telling time
Arrays (early multiplication)
Skip counting: 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 10s

Reading: maintain momentum with grade-level and above reading; formal ELA drilling stays on the back burner while math catches up.

Why This Plan

Maya's growth percentiles are strong in both subjects (66th math, 74th reading) โ€” she makes more progress than most peers when she's challenged. So we keep the level high and build fluency and confidence, rather than slowing down. Practice happens on her own adaptive math site plus weekly live lessons, with progress reported each week.
